StudioKargah: Kenophobic City Tales, 2001-2021
Biennale Internationale de Design Graphique de Chaumont / 2021 / 9 min / BBC

The International Biennial of Graphic Design celebrates Studio Kargah’s 20th year. Twenty years of production and an essential cultural contribution to graphic design and visual culture in Iran. Based in Tehran, Studio Kargah was founded in 2001 by Aria Kasaei and Peyman Pourhosein. Specializing in visual identities, notably for cultural and artistic venues and institutions, over the years these graphic designers have developed a protean style based on typography, photography and drawing, combining Persian and Latin alphabets while pushing the limits of abstraction. These more or less troubled events, which are nonetheless conducive to visual expression, will provide an insight into Studio Kargah’s contemporary output.
