The Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris is organizing a retrospective of the work of Bernard Buffet (1928 – 1999), considered one of the most famous French painters of the 20th century, but also one of the most controversial. Through a selection of some one hundred paintings, the exhibition offers a rereading of a body of work that has in fact been rarely shown.
